“SeeAnenoMe II”

Description

This small scale sculpture has dimensions measuring 15cm (Approx. 5.9″) square base, and standing approx. 20cm (Approx. 7.85″) high.

Living by the seaside provides me with constant inspiration.  The ever-changing colours and shapes formed by shifting light and tidal conditions are unpredictable, and awe-inspiring on a daily basis, as are our amazing & unique Flora & Fauna.

Under the water is an even more magical world.  This piece was inspired by Sea Anemones, which are often found in clumps, and many colours.

The different diameter tubes are made by French Knitting on different size spools which I make.  The tubes grow slowly with this laborious technique.  I love using traditional textile techniques, such as knitting and weaving, with materials such as wire.  These tubes are made with different coloured beading wire.  I have patinated the copper sheet sandwiched between two layers of perspex, which form the base.  This gives the copper its blue & green colours, reminiscent of the sea, & also the sea’s affect on metal.

I wanted to capture the movement of the Sea Anemones and reflections under the water.
