These are small-scale artworks that you can wear.
Made from brass and/or copper sheeting, cut into fine strips, and handwoven. I also sometimes use coloured beading wire woven through the strips.
I patinate the copper or brass sheeting using vinegar, salt and various ascorbic materials, which chemically react to change the colour and surface of the metal. You can never exactly predict the result, so it’s fun and surprising.
I also occasionally use commercially made patinated sheet, purchased from a jewellery making supplier.
